The obvious downside that comes with working remote is that it's a bit harder to make peer to peer interactions. I've learned a ton of good engineering and development processes. The work itself is technically challenging and interesting. The company has led the way in terms of remote work and allows a more flexible schedule custom to the way that you work best. There's a lot of flexibility that's been unlocked since switching to 'virtual first' (remote first), and there is steady iteration on how the company supports its employees, from benefits to growth opportunities, to team processes.ĭropbox is my third job and my favorite so far. Keep focusing on improving support for products at earlier stages so teams can iterate and learn quickly rather than getting tied up in the red tape that's more justified for the more mature products. Newer bets need different support and timelines than the core file storage product and sometimes things can feel like they move too slowly for the earlier stage products. The company is also still trying to figure out how to successfully launch or grow new or smaller products and it still needs to figure out how to pace and support them accordingly. That can make it feel exciting too-with lots of opportunity, but sometimes things can feel a little thrashy when you see bets not panning out or strategies not feeling cohesive and consistent. There are some compelling visions and strategy for the future of the company as it transitions to being a company known for one product to one with a multi-product suite, but success is far from guaranteed. There are also plenty of opportunities to have meaningful impact, no matter what your area of focus is, which feels important. There's a lot of flexibility that's been unlocked since switching to 'virtual first' (remote first), and there is steady iteration on how the company supports its employees, from benefits to growth opportunities, to team processes.
